There’s shawarma you eat, and then there’s shawarma you feel. We drove across this whole sprawling city of ours, from the downtown lunch rush to the quiet strip malls out past the interstate, and I ate my weight in garlic sauce.

I found an Iskender kebab so good I almost cried into the luxurious carpet, and I found a corner deli doing Persian kabobs so fresh they’d make your grandma jealous. I gave my gluten-free friend the keys for a day, and she’s still talking about the knafeh.

This city has spice, soul, and more pita than you could ever dream of. Start with the spicy chicken and work your way through the list.

Loyal go-to for repeat visits

Shawarma & Co is my comfort zone in the best way. I have walked in, ordered the chicken shawarma bowl with garlic sauce, and felt my whole day recalibrate. It is a loyal go-to for a reason. The garlic sauce drapes over every bite like a little hug, and the hummus and Greek salad are standouts that deserve their own applause. It is not fancy. It is better than fancy. It is the place you return to without thinking, the one your brain suggests when you are tired and hungry and in desperate need of something dependable and bright. I simply love it here.

ZamZam Mediterranean Grill & Hookah genuinely surprised me. I walked in expecting a decent meal and walked out convinced I had just eaten the best food I had in years. The vibes are immaculate, which is rare for a spot that also serves hookah. The staff are friendly, the space is huge and clean, and the portions are perfect, not ridiculous, just exactly right. I sat there longer than I planned, not wanting to leave the warmth of the room. If you want a meal that feels like a small celebration, this is your place. I am already planning my return trip.

The authentic Turkish flavors are done correctly, and the Iskender kebab is outrageously good, the kind of dish you think about for days. The space is spacious, luxurious, and somehow still cozy, like a fancy living room where you are allowed to eat with your hands. There are off-menu surprises too, like knafeh, if you ask nicely. Best Persian food in Oklahoma
Friendly owner, A+ service
Fresh, delicious kabobs and gyros
Well priced for quality
Consistently wonderful visits

Travel By Taste Deli & Market is the best Persian food in Oklahoma, and I will not be argued with on this point. The owner is friendly, the service is A plus, and the kabobs and gyros are fresh, delicious, and always exactly what I needed. The prices feel almost unfair for the quality, which makes me worry they are not making enough money, but then I remind myself to just enjoy the meal. Every visit has been consistently wonderful, from the first bite to the last sip of tea. This place feels like an old friend you somehow just met. I treasure it deeply.

Tower Grille is a downtown OKC spot that deserves a parade. Everything is made from scratch daily, and you can taste the effort in every single dish. The place is spotlessly clean, and the staff are so friendly they treat you like a family member who has been away too long. There is a vegetarian MVP dish on their menu, I will not name it here because I want you to ask them, and it is so flavorful I nearly forgot about meat. It is a must-try in the heart of downtown, and I walk away from every meal feeling like I just ate something honest. Go. Just go.

The portions are generous, the prices are reasonable, and the service is warm, welcoming, and remarkably fast. The kafta is tender, and the hashwa is heavenly, like a secret family recipe that somehow ended up on my plate. This place has survived and thrived because it is genuinely good at what it does, and it does it with love. I left feeling like I had been fed by people who actually care. That matters.

Eccentric music, cozy vibe

Baba G. Mediterranean grill is wonderfully eccentric, and I mean that as a pure compliment. The pita is fresh, the staff are friendly, and the portions are generous enough that I almost always have leftovers for the next day. The gyro is kid-approved, which is a scientific measure of quality in my house. The music is a little unpredictable, sometimes jazzy, sometimes weird, but it adds to the cozy vibe in a way that makes you smile. This is not a place for a stuffy business dinner. It is a place to relax, eat well, and maybe laugh at the playlist. I adore it for all of its quirks. That is the charm.
